Start your canyon experience…over the 80 metre cascading Kitekite Falls; abseiling under showering waterfalls separated by tranquil pools of blues and greens. Jumps, caves and slides will be your means to explore a canyon rich with the historic pioneering logging dams of 100 years ago!
Lunch… is had on the way down the canyon, taking time out gives you a chance to see an environment of ferns and mosses and palms struggling to survive on the steep walls of the canyon. After lunch descending further into the canyon through a narrow slot waterfall this section of the canyon is a constant discovery of otherwise unreachable views and majestic spots. Continuing through tunnels, over boulders and under logs, you may test your courage by jumping into plunge pools and abseiling right into waterfalls.
The last jump… (or abseil) – and suddenly you’re out of the canyon, back to the world we live in, but feeling refreshed in spirit! Just a short five minute gentle stroll back to the road end – the whole time your canyoning your heading back towards the vehicle!
On the beach… soaking up the warmth of the black iron sands and pleasant company. One of the advantages of the Piha canyon is the good access, only 30 min walk in and 5 min downhill walk out from the end of the canyoning – the whole time you are canyoning you are making your way back out of the bush. No long walk out means you will have time to relax or carry on exploring this area at the beach. Reflect on the day and admire the Tasman Sea’s waves rolling up the beach or if you still have some energy climb Lion rock for a great view over the surf and coast line. Full Day Trip (7.5hrs) – $175 per person.
Depart Auckland from the Sky Tower (corner of Victoria st West and Federal st) at 930am. Return approximately 430pm.
You need to bring swimsuit, towel and spare shoes to get wet (trainers etc). We do have some spare sets available that your welcome to use if you don’t have anything suitable.
Cancellation Policy – Should you cancel your booking or “no show” within 24 hours of the trip you booked going ahead you will be charged for full payment.
This activity is suitable for most people as you choose the pace and level of adventure. There are ways around the jumps and caves if needed!
Also ideal for Christmas parties, sales teams, stag and hen groups, birthdays. Canyoning can be combined with BBQ or catered food at one of the venues in Piha – Bowling club, Piha Cafe, Piha surf club. Or with accommodation options. Let us come up with a plan for your group!
Minimum age 12 years – accompanied by an adult.
